Imago Relationship Therapy
Imago is a type of relationship therapy which provides a unique opportunity for couples (and individuals) to learn how to use the issues they have in their relationship/s for growth and healing.
Imago relationship therapy involves viewing a conflict between couples as merely the outcome of specific circumstances—not the cause of disharmony. By examining the conflict itself, a couple can arrive at a satisfying solution, heal, and then grow together, living life in a much more healing & enduring way.
Part of our problem is in how we may have been brought up. We don’t always know better, but equipped with the right knowledge, we can break our learned behaviors and have a better quality of life through better relationships.
Couples Counseling
A relationship (of any kind) goes through many phases, and it’s obvious for it to have a few rough patches. The strength of a relationship is reflected in how couples deal with rough patches & move ahead.
We need to learn to move from rupture to repair faster as we practice the awareness and communication skills needed to succeed. The problem with most of us is that we didn’t know how to resolve them before. Couples counseling does just that, giving you new eyes to see into yourself and your relationships. Having the right knowledge can be a huge relief!
My approach towards couples therapy is oriented not only towards solving the problems a couple is facing, but to revive the feelings of love and affection they have towards one another.
Individual Counseling
When we don’t deal with our emotional issues, an emotional scar can form which will then cut us off from ourselves and others. It will be difficult to make connections with people, and that can lead to loneliness & despair. I will address those issues & concerns with you and help you to get the life & love you want & need.
It could be a childhood wound or an emotional breakdown caused by a divorce or death of a loved one…
Whatever it may be, I’m here to help you navigate through the rough waters of life. Get the help you need in a 100% safe space. I offer individual counseling for depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, self-esteem, parenting, abuse, grief, stress and other issues.
Family Therapy Sessions
If a couple fails to communicate, it has a trickle down effect on the children.
Fighting / being disrespectful to your partner shows your kids that this is the way to be heard.
They’ll copy your behaviors in order to get what they want.
I help this situation by coaching the family system as a whole on how to speak & be heard, and how to listen & understand what others are trying to say.
Pre-Marital Sessions
As an Imago Relationship Therapist I will assist you through conversations that need to occur before marriage.
Some topics can be: finances, kids, extended family, chores and many other sensitive areas that are frequently not talked about.
I will assist you through a guided dialogue to discuss & problem solve all important issues that any couple approaching marriage will be experiencing.
Marriage Counseling
A conscious marriage is not for the faint-hearted; it requires learning effective coping mechanisms rather than crying / anger / withdrawal which have become habitual for us.
It means reconnecting through dialogue and stretching to give our partners what they need to heal.
A conscious marriage will restore your sense of aliveness & connectivity, and set you on the path of real love.
Divorce Counseling
Most couples who begin a divorce are unprepared and often not on the same page when they begin.
It’s this lack of preparedness & readiness for a divorce that causes marriages to end prematurely or divorces to deteriorate into competitive contests.
It is my opinion that once a divorce occurs, it doesn’t mean that communication should stop. Imago will help repair the ruptured connection that prohibits conversations without the anger and resentment.
